Spring 2008

The Project:
This paper was written for the final project in Environmental Science in 2008. The assignment was open-ended apart from a suggested length to define the scope. It was presented as an opportunity to learn about a topic we did not study or become an expert in a topic we had discussed by exploring it more deeply on one’s own.

From her nomination:
Emily chose the latter option. She set out to acquire a better command of the complex issues at play in involving increased use of biofuels to displace fossil fuel consumption. Her closing line reflects the kind of concise insight that makes her analysis compelling and fluid: "Biofuels, and all fuels for that matter, are an inefficient iteration of solar energy."
